Mount Olympic MCC - Keith Campbell
One for the Aussie contingent. Keith Campbell, 1957 Junior World Champion is buried in Douglas Cemetery. There was a Mount Olympic MCC badge on his gravestone which has been removed by some low-life. His widow would like to get a replacement, ar a facsimile, does the club still exist, I believe it was in the Melbourne area.

Bill - I am also trying to get some info on the club, but cannot help wondering how/why he is buried in Douglas, when the records I have looked at say he was killed in the French GP at Cadours in 1958?

His wife was a Manxie, called Geraldine I think, and sister to Geoff Dukes' first wife -- daughter of a local clergyman, whose name I can't remember -- BILL :?:

Their home was on the Island.

Wasn't the French GP Peter - just one of the Continental Circus town races.

He slid off on the first lap of the 500 on oil spilt, according to the Press of the time, during the preceding sidecar race.

That explains it! It looks to have been a fantastic circuit, in the old style before everything became Armco'd and crowds moved to three hundred yards back! The photos on http://www.forix.com/8w/cadours.html make it look a bit like Laurel bank crossed with the 11th Milestone?

Update: The Olympic MCC no longer exists as it was amalgamated with another club. I am hoping to get contact details of Keith's relatives soon, speak with them first then try to get some information from the Victorian Club.

Hello to all, I am Keith Campbell, son of George (surviving brother of Keith). Have spoken to Bob Edmonds today in Melbourne and he is going to post a photo of the clubs badge on the web. He may send it to me and when it comes I will post it here.
My mother would like to get in contact with Keith's wife, Geraldine again but she has moved address.
Does anyone have a contact for her back in the Isle of Man?
Thank you to all concerned and we hope to ensure all is made correct again, Keith.

Hi Bill,
Can you contact me off list
jangrainger@bigpond.com
as we need to know how we can transmit a copy of the Olympic MCC badge to the Isle of Man. I will put you in touch with the person who now has it. Many thanks.
