spammers, drug dealers and porn
Helen/ Malcolm
The number of these nasty sort of postings is growing almost on a daily basis I log in everyday sometime 5/6 times a day and even allowing for ones that you remove there does seem to be a lot more in recent weeks/days.

I've had a look at the memberlist and there's lots of these guys on there with porn sites as their www. home pages.

Even if you remove a few genuine people in an effort to get rid of the spammers and porn merchants those who ARE genuine could re register

I'm no techie but there must be some way of keeping them out.

Personally speaking these guys need to meet up with some very serious attitude adjustment preferably in the shape of a large bit of 2x4

Yep have to agree they are a pain Sad

Sadly a lot of them are virtual rather than real users, they have been able to register with the site cause all it asks for is user name etc, there isn't a security code bit where there has to be a real person typing in the details as the virtuals cannot "see" the pic

Agree that maybe a clear out of IDs that don't appear to be active in anyway may clear them out a bit. Know I don't post that often but its a 2 min job to reregister if I needed to Smile

The admins can click "Admin approval" at their panel for new registrants.
A bit more work for them, but should take away most misery :!:

spam, etc
I don't think there is a good answer to this issue. But I get a lot a spam in my e-mail mailbox and manage to delete most of it unopened.
I notice that the latest "user" is MasterBee who is a "disigner" (sic). Well, I won't be opening his messages in a hurry (having looked at his profile). Instead, I will ignore it and wait for an admin to delete the message.
Eventual deletion of the user would be good too, but not urgent.
The only thing that would stop all spam is for the group to be completely moderated; on some Yahoo groups I belong to, messages sometimes sit there (invisibly) for half a day because the admins aren't logged in. I prefer to see ttwebsite messages promptly, and not open the suspicious ones.

I think what this last week shows is the amount of effort Malcolm puts in to keep this site clean. While he is away, I am zapping the offensive stuff when I can, but I do a lot of evening meetings and that seems to be when they post. The buildup of new yukky members is also indicative, as he zaps them daily, but I haven't mastered that art yet.
TTwebsite has a fairly high security setting, but when you see what infiltarators did to RRR, which is a paid membership site, it shows how difficult this is to combat.
Incidentally, I get about 200 spam messages a day, which is why I will be changing my email address soon!
They are all so boring aren't they...

I've got some video footage like that Big Grin

But Sandy won't let me put it on Google video she says some one might recognise her in the one piece PVC outfit with matching fluffy hand cuffs.

I'm ok you'd never know me in my rubber batman outfit.

After posting I realised I'd missed a bit :?

Would be nice if there was some sort of 'report this post' type button that would fire something off to the Admins to save having to send a PM each time

Just a thought like Smile
