Hi all,
I had the pleasure of visiting ex TT racer, Alan Burt today. I showed him the pic of myself taken a couple of years ago with the statue of Joey on board his bike. The first thing Alan asked was....what bike is it..... He could have at least said...Gee, great pic of you Jan. lol. So, can someone let me know which particular bike was modelled for the statue.
Thanks in advance.
p.s. Been a bad day today and my memory is a bit fuzzy but I think Alan said he raced in either NW200 or Ulster.....or maybe even both. Perhaps Bill Snelling or Larry may have the answer. Ta
Allen Burt rode the 1959 Junior Ulster GP, we have one shot of him from that meet. He also rode the Junior and Senior TT in 1958.
Perhaps Larry knows of a NW200 database?
Thanks so much for the replies guys. Now, Bill, may I ask where I can see any pics of Alan. I am coming to the Laxey exhibition during the Manx so maybe I'll catch up with you then.
Allen is only listed riding in the Island in 1958. It took me 18 years after my first Island visit to ride here - it was a bit misty that day wasn't it Larry!
Jan.
Give me a ring (862238) when you are on the Island, we won't have bikes at the exhibition so it may be unmanned we are only a few hundred yards down the road.

Thanks Bill, I remember you gave me your address when we briefly met at the website get together in 2006. Will look forward to it. Yes, Alan went to Ireland with Bob Brown in 1955 after buying bikes in England, Bob got a second and Alan fourth in the 350 but I couldn't remember which track he said but he definately said he came fourth. It was this year that he had that terrible crash at Ramsey at the TT on the 7R and ended up in Nobles for many many months. He then returned to the TT in 1958.
