A Blast from the past again
Following earlier comments i've found out the following; Peter Inchley rode the Villiers Starmaker in the '65 TT and retired, in the '66 TT finished 3rd, heady days for a British 250.
Mike O'Rourke road an Ariel arrow to 7th place in lightweight TT in '60, rode again in '61 but retired.

Re: A Blast from the past again
According to the book "British Performance 2-strokes" at the time of the O'Rouke Arrow, Peter Inchley and Sammy Miller were working in the competition department at Ariel's and had already done some "playing " with the Arrow engine. Hermann Meier was introduced to Ken Whistance ,the managing director of Ariel by Harold Daniell and was able to obtain unmachined barrels etc from Ariel. After the 7th place in the TT, Ken Whistance wanted to take Herman Meier on,but "The big boss" Edward Turner, decided that "The 2-stoke engine has no future"!!!!!!and the project was not allowed to go any further. Typical British engineering decision!!!
