I know you're not old enough to have been there, but I suspect you may have the answers.

RE: CAN ANYONE HELP??
NickJ Wrote:I would have thought it was the 1938 TT, not 1939. I think I could identify most of those riders with a little research. Bob Foster was in there alongside Woods, Rusk, Frith, Daniell, the DKW men probably Fleishmann, Kluge........ anyway Larry's doing the work right now, so i won't bother. Good photos though.
Thanks, Liz and Nick, for the vote of confidence!!
You're right, Nick - at least 6 are 1938, the rest 1939.
They are indeed cracking shots, and we don't see enough of these paddock photos.
I've posted details on the site concerned.
Just hope no-one pulls me on any!!!

NickJ Wrote:Pretty impresssive Larry, we expected nothing less! That said, I wouldn't have been absolutely convinced with the Ginger Wood and David Whitworth id's but I would bow to your greater knowledge. The Jimmy Little photo I had no idea of. Isn't the guy stood with Stanley Woods one of the Goodman brothers?
Hi Nick
Definitely recognise the faces of Ginger Wood and David Whitworth.
As to the gentleman with Stanley, is he not a bit slight of build to be one of the Goodman brothers and indeed a bit young?
At any rate, no names occur!!

NickJ Wrote:Certainly one of the Goodman brothers was on the large side. But the guy's face looks familiar, and I will look until the penny drops.
Nick - could it be Mr Perkins of the Vacuum Oil Company (Mobil), who funded Stanley's move from Norton to Husqvarna in 1934 (£1500) and paid him a further retainer each year up to 1939?

RE: CAN ANYONE HELP??
Naaaah - there are limits!
Although I might, just might, be able to find out who made Stanley's leathers . . . . . . .
But don't hold me to it!!
