RE: Hilary Musson latest
David Griffiths Wrote:Hilary is currently in the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where she underwent a bone graft last Friday to hopefully fix her broken femur. This never properly healed after the accident last year, so the specialist decided recently that a bone graft would be the best option.
The surgery went well, but it was a long job - about 6 hours. She is naturally very tired and not feeling too great at the moment, but her recovery is on track and the hospital staff are pleased with her progress. Gail and John are still in Liverpool with her at present. We are not sure when Hilary will be allowed home, but hopefully it will be within a week. She was pleased to receive flowers today from the TT Marshals Association.
Thanks for that, David.
Please pass on to Hilary Jane's, and my, best wishes - she's a tough bird, and she'll do all right!!!

Hilary is now home, and recovering. She is hoping to be at Noble's Park today for the finish of Gail's Cross country... that'll be another PB and another medal, Gail?

RE: Hilary Musson latest
Thank you all for your messages.I haven't been feeling up to looking at the computer,so this is the first time.My femur had ben broken in two places, and had been pinned, but one of the breaks didn't mend,so the surgeon in Liverpool decided to remove the pin and insert a stronger one,as well as the bone graft from the pelvis,on the same side.I look like a trussed up Sunday joint, with staples from my knee to my lower back, although most of them have just been removed. As you would expect, I am rather sore, and it took a few days to recover from the anaesthetic.John stayed in Liverpool with me most of the time, and Gail was there for a few days too, with David there for the first weekend. They were a big support for me as I needed family presence.I also had a lovely surprise visit from Nigel John as he was attending an out patient clinic,so we had notes to compare!
Don,the cats went for a holiday too,in the cattery!
Thank you all for your support,it means a lot.
