The Auto 66 Club has put together an action packed programme for the second annual Barry Sheene Race Festival at Oliver’s Mount Scarborough.
The meeting takes place over the weekend of 23rd and 24th May. The main attraction will be the Classic Races and Parades which has attracted a good cross section of Racing Machines from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Originally the meeting was to host a round of the IHRO European Championship but due to the lack of support on the continent it had to be cancelled.
The Club replaced the Series with races for Modern Machinery which has attracted a good entry of up and coming stars of the future including Daniel Frear from Scunthorpe, who headed the Duke Road Race Rankings after the opening round of the Rankings at the Mount in April, Mick and Mark Goodings from Doncaster, David Bell from Chester-Le-Street, Richard Gibson from South Cave, Darren Percival from Whitley Bay, Keith Pringle from Hetton-Le-Hole, Neil Vicars from Tadcaster, Tim Poole from Northwich, Phil Harvey from Goole, Jules Croft from Lincoln plus a host of Irish Riders.
The Classic Races have attracted some very special machinery, including the 500cc Grand Prix Paton Machines which will be ridden by Ryan Farquhar and Olie Linsdell. Ryan winner of the Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix for the past two years at record speeds and Olie on top form after winning the Classic Race at the recent Tandragee 100 Road Races, again at record speed are set to be arch-rivals to lift the prestigious Denis Parkinson Trophy!
