Exciting New Development for the Joey Dunlop Foundation
Braddan Bridge House

In July 2008 the committee became aware of a potential site that would meet its requirements. This new venture has many benefits with the main ones being:

Large in area providing more flexibility.
Ample car parking.
Proximity to the TT Course.
Convenience to sea terminal and hospital as well as other amenities.

The property is already built requires internal modification only and there is room for possible expansion in the future.

The Joey Dunlop Foundation (Isle of Man Registered Charity) has spent many years looking to fulfill the Foundation's aim of providing first class and much needed disabled accommodation in the Isle of Man.

To date over £500,000 has been raised thanks to the tireless efforts of the Foundation's many volunteer fundraisers and the financial commitment of loyal supporters and friends who have backed the Foundation over the last 8 years.

Many obsticals have had to be overcome, but the Foundation is now extremely optimistic that its determination and all the hard work are about to be rewarded.

Following lengthy discussions with various departments of the Isle of Man Government, the Foundation is extremely pleased to announce the acquisition, (subject to contract) of Braddan Bridge House as shown.

We are indebted to the Minister and officials of the Department of Transport for their assistance and support in finally securing a property which meets the requirements of the Foundation and without whose agreement we would not have been able to secure this property for the project, it represents a big leap forward for all those who have been involved from the begining of the Foundation, not to mention also a huge sense of relief that material progress has at last been made.

TT Festival Activities - GET INVOLVED.
  • For the chance to win a Honda motorcycle, as well as supporting the Foundation, you can purchase a tombola ticket from the Hailwood Centre at the TT Grandstand throughout the festival. The centre also has the full range of Joey Dunlop Foundation merchandise, ideal for presents to take home.

  • On Mad Sunday, June 7, you are invited to visit Joey Dunlop House between 10am and 5pm, as well as visiting nearby Braddan Church Hall, where the TT trophies will be on display.

  • Bushy’s beer tent in Loch Promenade, Douglas, is the place to be on Tuesday, June 9, when the Foundation will be holding a fundraising night.

  • There will also be a chance to show your support for the Foundation during the Laxey TT Motorcycle Show, which starts at midday on June 11.

  • Representatives of the Foundation will also be at the Billown circuit in the south of the Island on June 13, when the Lightweight and Ultra Lightweight TT races are run.

  • If you have some spare time during Race Week and would like to help out the Foundation, call Events Coordinator Suzanne, after 4pm, on 07624 421102.

Joey Dunlop Foundation

Meeting the Needs of Disabled People.

The main aim of the Foundation has always been to create self-catering apartments that will open up the Isle of Man to visitors with disability, including accessible bedrooms toilets and showers and other specialist needs. It is intended that at least one apartment will have an overhead hoist and height adjustable bed facilities and as appropriate, air matress. All apartments will include wet room facilities with level access. When it is constructed the facility will be available all year round for all disabled visitors needing specialist facilities while visiting the Island..

To ensure this building is fitted out to compliment Joey's stature your continued support is greatly appreciated and the fund raising campaign continues and will be prominent once more during 2009.
