The Eddie Laycock Trust
The Eddie Laycock Trust

The friends of Eddie Laycock, Ireland’s great road racing motorcyclist, have
recently formed The Eddie Laycock Trust to assist Eddie and his family
following his major surgery.

Diagnosed with cancer just over 3 years ago, the amputation of his left leg took place during Christmas week in St Vincent’s Hospital, Merrion, Co Dublin.

Eddie, born May 1961, lives in Templeogue, Co Dublin with his wife Helen and their two young boys. He is universally recognised as one of the best exponents of the sport to come out of Ireland. He is also part of the Moto GP commentary team with Peter Collins on RTE.

In 1987, Eddie won the Junior TT - the first Southern rider to do so since the legendary Reg Armstrong – 30 years earlier! Also during 1987, he finished second in the Formula 2 race. The following year he won the production 250 TT and moved on to the top of world motorcycling when he raced in the 500 GP Class.

Other results included Isle of Man 1989 TT 1st Supersport 400, while the Ulster Grand Prix brought trophies for 1986 – 1st Formula Two and also 350 races, 1989 – Prince of the Road and 1st Supersport 400. Similar firsts were achieved at the Northwest 200.

Just a few of his many successes on two wheels!

Meet many friends and some “Blasts from the Past” at a
Special Valentines Evening which will take place at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, February 13th next. Tickets at €100 available from 01 4511282
or Susan at emsservice@eircom.net

RE: The Eddie Laycock Trust
Oh dear oh dear. I had no idea that Eddie had been poorly. These things always happen to the best guys. Great rider, charmin' fella!
I've tried to log onto the Eddie Laycock trust with no success.
Any clues?
Baylon, please pass on my best wishes to Eddie, and tell him Nick J wishes to be remembered to him.
