The entertainment package was announced as part of the Official Media Launch Day of the 2010 TT.

A spectacular stunt production has been lined up for Douglas Promenade. The seven-night extravaganza, called The Thunderdome Games, will take place every evening from Saturday, June 5, as part of an action-packed entertainment line up for this year’s TT.

The Thunderdome Games is a 30 minute choreographed show, set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop, where the theme is the meetings of rival bike gangs who ‘face off’ in demonstrations of high-octane skill.

The show will include freestyle moto-cross, quad bikes, mini bike stunts including a 360 flip, superbike and road bike tricks all leading up to the show’s spectacular climax of precision stunts and heart stopping manoeuvres.

The nightly schedule of evening entertainment will also include a bike quiz game, ‘They Think It’s All a Question of Bikes’ featuring leading riders past and present who will be tested on their knowledge of the race world. John McGuinness, Steve Plater, Dave Molyneux and some surprise guests are all scheduled to appear during the week.

The evening will also feature chat shows with riders from many different championships and disciplines taking part. The evenings will be compered by popular motorcycling presenter, and former TT star, Steve Parrish.

Mayhem is promised from the perennially popular Purple Helmets stunt team, which is due to perform its usual tricks and gravity defying stunts on the Loch Promenade on Thursday, June 10, however, this year they face a challenge from ‘The White Helmets’, the Royal Signals Motorcycle Display team.

They were formed in 1927 and are the world’s oldest motorcycle display team. The White Helmets are due to perform the previousnight onWednesday 9th June. The real highlight will be the ‘Purple Helmets versus White Helmets’ showdown on Friday June 11.

Classic Bike fans will be treated to what is billed as a ‘classic bike night’ on Thursday June 10 with a showcase of some of the most exotic classic machines taking part in the following day’s ‘TT Classic Parade’. Some of the famous names taking part in the parade will also be appearing in that evening’s chat show on stage.

A children’s funfair will also appear on the promenade throughout the TT festival and will be open during the day and evening. The funfair is aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 11 and is expected to be popular with families with young children. There will also be a range of simulators, bungees and other adrenaline rides for the adults.

The TT festival will kick off with a double bill of comedy with appearances in the Villa Marina Royal Hall by leading UK comics Ross Noble on Thursday June 3 and Al Murray on Friday June 4. Ross is no stranger to the Isle of Man having appeared on the Island in 2009 when he also took the time to complete a few laps of the TT course. Al Murray will be appearing as the ‘Pub Landlord’, which he performs to sell-out crowds in the UK.

There is also plenty of live music scheduled for fans to enjoy throughout the TT festival. Headline acts, which will be revealed shortly, have been earmarked to play at the Villa Marina on Tuesday 8th and Thursday 10th June and there will also be a number of appearances by local artists.

Film fans can enjoy the TT ‘film zone’ at the Villa Marina, Broadway Cinema, which will be showing a series of bike related films from Saturday 29th May on. Films shown include ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’, ‘Easy Rider’, ‘Silver Dream Racer’, ‘Electra Glide in Blue’, ‘Wild Hogs’, ‘No Limit’, ‘On any Sunday’ and “I bought a Vampire Motorcycle’. There are also proposed screenings of ‘Take it to the Limit’, features racing heroes like Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts and Mike Hailwood.

Fans will also get the chance to see the race action played on big screens every evening. The TT Races TV programmes, featuring Craig Doyle, Steve Parrish and Jamie Whitham will be shown on the large screen situated high above the entertainment zone on the Villa Marina Colonnade.

The week-long entertainment extravaganza will culminate in a spectacular closing show featuring a TT Races Winners’ Parade of riders from the 8 Races, the Senior TT Prize Presentation and a huge firework show over Douglas Bay.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle said:

“We wanted to create an action-packed festival with lots of activities that would appeal to both our visitors and residents. We have also looked to create plenty to do for people of all ages and believe that we have high quality entertainment that will live long in the memory and will perfectly complement the high standard of racing that we now have.”

Are there any "open mike" nights where you can turn up and sing/play guitar?

I do some minimalist/acoustic-electric old songs and love to get up to perform, if people don't mind old fogies (in 60s) singing equally old music(from 60s).

Only trouble is I cannot bring amp/main guitar on my TDM900 - I usually bring a little "traveller" guitar anyway but it sounds a bit thin, for even a pub room.
