RE: TT2011, Sat practice dropped
Commentator welcomes practice decision
Dropping the first, untimed practice session from next year's TT is the right thing to do, according to eight-time TT winner and Manx Radio TT commentator Charlie Williams.
The announcement was made at the end of last week, with organisers saying riders and teams right through the field had been requesting the change for some time.
Charlie says dropping the session won't have any impact on safety, as far as he's concerned:

RE: TT2011, Sat practice dropped
Will there be a different demand for ferry places now.....I reckon the weekend will now be a premium............
Book now to avoid disappointment !!!
................................we were invited to a party while we were in Portugal.....We met an old man who was celebrating his Wedding Anniversary and he sat with drink in hand in front of us all, and told us that when he was young he shared a tiny fishing boat with his two brothers.
They went out every day to fish and returned to sell their catch in the beach market. His brothers used their share of the takings to eat, drink and be merry in the sea front cafes. He however, decided to put away most of his share and in a few years was able to buy his brothers out and invest in a bigger boat. He had met the girl who would become his wife. She went on the beach early each morning to find sea shells which she collected, took home and made trinkets which she also sold in the market. She too accumulated her takings so she was soon quite wealthy and decided to have herself a college education.
He met her parents, she met his, and soon the rings of "consolidados" were exchanged and a wedding day was decided upon.
It was a beautiful wedding and he was happy to now have a bride, and his business.
Over the years he sold his boat and retired with a fleet of fishing vessels under his command.
His wife completed college and went to be PA at the Petroleum Division of Shell Portugal. (After all she started with shells)
We asked him what was the secret behind his wonderful successful life and he related that when he met the girl he eventually married he said a phrase to her that he repeated often, not just on their anniversary.but on any occasion day or night.
He spelt out the the phrase and we all wrote it down.
It was:- "Beb-y-Fez, ugot da ku tezt beb-y-fez"
I now say it to my wife and it opens doors that I had forgotten existed !!
In 2015 I celebrate 68 years as a devoted TTFan

I sat in the paddock waiting for the track to dry so that the Superstar solo riders could go out.
Why not send out the sidecars to dry out the track that will be the only way that we will get out before the solos in practice or racing.

The sidecars used to race on saturday and monday but it was decided that the race days were too close together for us sidecar racers to prepare the bikes for the second race. This meant that we had to stay on the island for an extra 2 days.
I said at the time that the only reason we were kept on there for the extra 2 days was because when the sidecars go the paddock is empty and this looks bad. Now the races are moved closer again but we still have to stay for the extra 2 days. It must be for our benefit though because they wouldn't do it otherwise. (WOULD THEY?)
Yup Sidecar driver definately
