Less than an hour ago... the racing world lost a great (young) man... Dan Wheldon aged 33 died in the last race of the Indy Car season in Las Vegas..

The race was not restarted, instead a 5 lap tribute was just completed..

Manx racing driver Alex Lloyd has escaped injury after being caught up in the fifteen car crash that killed IndyCar champion Dan Wheldon.

Former Port Soderick resident Alex Lloyd's car was seen to catch fire.

Marshals had to help him from the car as it went up in flames.

It was part of the same incident at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that killed Dan Wheldon yesterday.

Lloyd has since tweeted that this is one of the saddest days of his life, and that Wheldon was a great champion and true friend.
