There will be an entry fee for the first time at the 2014 Isle of Man TT launch event at the Villa Marina in Douglas.

Entry this year will cost £5, but in return the audience will get a revamped show with new presenters.

The event will be produced by North One Television which also provides the race coverage and the show will be streamed live on iomtt.com.

Instead of Manx Radio’s Chris Kinley and Tim Glover, the launch will be presented by former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones along with former racers James Whitham and Steve Parrish who will interview the top riders and teams.

The launch, on April 15, will feature a chat show as well as interviews with leading TT riders reliving their 2013 campaigns and discussing their 2014 TT plans. There will also be big screen video clips replaying the highlights from the 2013 TT.

Riders with a total of 49 solo TT race wins will be taking part, including 20-times race winner John McGuinness, still the outright lap record holder. Others include winner of five races in a week, Ian Hutchinson, returning after missing 2013 through injury, four-times 2013 race winner Michael Dunlop, 2011 Supersport winner Gary Johnson, nine-times race winner Bruce Anstey, and James Hillier, who achieved his maiden TT race victory in the 2013 Lightweight.

Tickets available from the Villa Marina on 600555 or via the Villa Gaiety website. Ticket buyers will be entered in a prize draw to win hospitality tickets and a closed roads lap in the TT course car.

It would be worth every penny if it means that North One does not follow on with the past format of long drawn out small talk interviews with top foul mouthed riders that the relevant Government dept has past laid on, North One I am sure will take it forward however will that £5 admission be £15 or more next year

As always Larry D is bang on the money. Screw the loyal punter for every bent penny about, that is what the TT is about, no longer a sport purely a money making merchandising machine.
