Full grids are guaranteed for this weekend’s Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic race meeting at Billown.

A total of more than 230 entries have been received for the event, which will fire 15 days of road racing into life this evening (Friday) when roads will be closed between 6.05 and 9.35pm.

The action will continue on Saturday afternoon between 12.15 and 4.15pm with more practice, plus the opening two races for Single cylinder solos and classic sidecars at approximately 3.20 and 3.55pm respectively.

A special road closing order has been sanctioned for a full afternoon and evening’s racing on Sunday, when roads will close between 1pm and 8pm.

The meeting will conclude with a concours d’elegance of racing machines and presentation of trophies for the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic on Tuesday afternoon in Castletown Square from 2pm to 4pm.

The nine-race programme caters for single-cylinder 250cc and 350cc machines, Lightweight 250cc, Junior 350cc, Senior 500cc, 850cc Classics, Classic Superbikes and Sidecars.

Leading solo names include Roy Richardson, Jamie Coward, James Cowton and Chris McGahan.

Because of the high interest received for the Superbike event the organisers have split the capacities into two separate races to cater for all the entries received.

Peter Duke will present the laurels to the winner of the Junior Superbike race in memory of his father Geoff who died earlier this month.

The remaining solo races remain the same as the successful format of the previous years, while the sidecar competitors once again have two four-lap races, the second of which, the Camathias Cup, is one of a six-round classic series also being contested in England, Belgium, France, Germany and Holland.

Further details on the Post-TT Classic in this weekend’s preview edition of TT News, on sale Saturday at newsagents and other outlets across the island.
