Any secrets to watching on the mountain mile? How do you get into position as the roads are too dangerous to walk on when open and not allowed when closed. Where is fast and good? Aka not the bungalow or brandywell! Can you only park a car at either the gooseneck or the bungalow?

Go early and leg it on foot across the fields!

Go to the bungalow by tram from Laxey. If you don't want bungalow viewin, make your way across the fields and head in any direction.

It's like an endless playground for TT fans!

I think there's some parking at Black Hut layby, Mountain Box and Windy Corner parking down the field/forest tracks away from the corners

Was at black hut today and I'm sure the layby is in a restricted area?

Sorry - I mean't see if you can park there and leg it somewhere else.

Might be worth a shot I guess but wouldn't they want you to move your vehicle when roads close? There is a layby just after Verandah which had a couple of bikes in today but could have been marshals. For what it's worth, we parked at bungalow and walked back

You can get to and from the Laxey Rd on a trailie from Windy Corner, I do know "cough" an over confident person who got down there on a TL1000 .. big error of judgement but I couldn't get it turned around hahaha

been going 35 years on bike and me mate thinks we goin up that track to windy on an xjr 1300 gs 1000 and xs 650 ,i dont think so....but well done you .

parked on big camber in field at gooseneck last year and watched several older gentlemen on large bikes having all sorts of trouble trying not to slide down on wet grass.easy to get stuck when you think you can make it

Thanks, defo for trailies's only or bikes with ground clearance .. I came down from Windy, first part ok - the rest of it very very lumpy and rocky, a guy stopped on a trailie to kindly ask if I needed help and ask just wtf I was doing there on a TL, it was my Dad's idea and I thought i'd give it a go one day, Dad reckoned that back in his day it wasn't as chewed up and rocky.

went on old rail line from sulby to quarry bends but walked in end as was very wet and was worried we get moaned at .want to use it to get to ballaugh at mgp this year.like to get to new spots or by new routes even after all these years .walked brandywell to bungalow once in 82 got very burnt,that dont happen much

im on radio now and programme and tt pen ready.got me tt hat on and tt shirt ,goin to be good one ,bacon buttie for lunch in healthy tt style .

on tt radio now wishing was there .oh well got proramme ,hat ,t shirt ,mug and pen at ready and traditional tt healthy bacon buttie for lunch. tried old rail line last yeay sulby to quarry and ballaugh,very wet but passable

Is it possible to get there early when according to the timetable the first tram isn't until 09.45 and they only run every half an hour? I want to get up there early on Friday, but also expect the station to be mobbed. Flew here from Far East so bike less and car less.

I've been wishing the same for 30 years after my first trip to the TT. I even have the property I want picked out when I do win.

It's lovely, but it comes with some limitations - I lived there from 2 to about 22 years old.....go back for the racing every year, but I'm always glad to come back to England.
Met a guy from the TT forum once who talked about his son who was living on the Island, perfect life, garage full of bikes, trail riding etc etc etc..... I started to wonder about my own decision to leave all those years ago until he casually mentioned his son "does suffer depression though since moving there"! As my Mother living their says...."winters are a death".

i got small horizons so winter wont bother me.got lot of family there too ,might ave to live the garden shed though. and yep lottery tkt would help a lot.
