The Motorbike and Medical world combined today to hand in a petition of over 81,000 names to Jim Allister and the Northern Ireland assembly at Stormont Buildings. William along with Brian Reid and Liam Beckett accompanied the team behind the campaign for a designated Air Ambulance along to the ‘house on the hill’ to hand in the names gathered to accompany an on line petition which has been running alongside the paper copies. Petitions were placed in shops and businesses around Northern Ireland to put pressure on the executive for the helicopter, a cause that was started and pursued by Doctor John Hinds, or as he was more fondly known as ‘The Flying Doctor’. Sadly Doctor John lost his life in a tragic racing incident earlier this year at the Skerries Road Races, leaving a huge void, not only in the motorbike racing family but the whole of the medical family and worldwide.



With Northern Ireland having such a large rural area, Doctor John pushed hard in the pursuit of saving lives by the use of a specialist trauma team ready to move anywhere by use of the Air Ambulance.



William is a great supporter of this campaign and was proud to have been there today to lend his support, even taking time out pose for photos with eager politicians, security guards and fans alike.

Good to see a massive support for this someting that is really needed.Would be amazing for it to happen and fantastic for injured riders.

so many times over here in the uk the air ambulance is taken as a right getting called out more and more but this is fundid by donations alone not the goverment or any health athority

Hope this petition is not going to be affected by the latest carry on there having at Stormont at the moment,unfortunatley doesnt sound like the Air ambulane will be high on there priority list.
