sad to hear the passing of this fine engineer.
my first race bike was an emc puch in 1959
I believe dr joe was employed or involved in the early sixties by the de'haviland aircraft company who used his creations as a test bed for metals developement.

That is quite correct, some of his earlier attempts were rather odd, but the Rex Avery era was quite successful. Are you from the Lowestoft area arthur. ?

NO NOT FROM LOWESTOFT AREA BUT VERY CLOSE.I'M FROM NORFOLK THE BROADS AREA BETWEEN NORWICH AND YARMOUTH.GLAD SOMEONE COMFIRMED WHAT I HAD HEARD IN THE EARLY SIXTIES WHEN I RACED A FEW TIMES AGAINST REX AND MIKE WHEN THEY WERE RIDING JOES CREATION
