STATEMENT REGARDING FATAL INCIDENT AT 2016 VAUXHALL INTERNATIONAL NORTH WEST 200
[Image: NW2016hdr.jpg]

Malachi Mitchell-Thomas has died as a result of a crash on the third lap of the Supertwins race at the Vauxhall International North West 200 today.

The 20 year old from Chorley in Lancashire crashed his Burrows Engineering Kawasaki on the approach to Black Hill. The race was immediately red flagged and Malachi was treated by medical staff from the MCUI Medical team but succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No other riders were involved in the incident.

Racing was subsequently abandoned.

The organisers of the event, the Coleraine and District Motor Club, would like to offer their heartfelt condolences to Malachi's family and team.

What a tragedy, right on the heels of Billy Redmayne's passing. Both young guns the RR World was so aware of, and both extraordinary talents. Deepest condolences to all closely involved. RIP guys.

Thoughts are with Malachi's family, and those who dealt with the incident on the course.

Ride fast, ride free Malachi........

as smidsy said sometimes people forget others are involved and affected by things like this
when a young talent comes to our attention and gets taken away so soon it always brings back memorys of wayne hamilton
so cruel is the sport we love sometimes

RIP. As Smidsy and scaramanga said, thoughts with both the family and those who assisted at the scene. The medical teams had a busy day - as we left after the roads opened the medical team was off to another shout...

Absolutely dreadful news about Malachi. He had his whole life ahead of him - and it was gone in an instant. As has been already said, he was a real talent & a rising star in roadracing. My condolences to his loved-ones, friends & the many folk who would have known him in and around the paddock at this very sad time. May the young lad rest in peace.
