Tom on the Crooks Suzuki in 1973

It is with sadness that I have discovered today, that Forum member and contributor Tom Loughridge passed away in late April

Tom was an avid Isle of Man racing participant, starting with the Manx Grand Prix in 1966 and still competing in 1982 in the TT itself.

Toms full list of participation can be found in the Manx Heritage Database - HERE

On behalf of all who use TTwebsite, I take this opportunity to extend our sincerest sympathy to the Family and Friends of Tom.

Malcolm

Gutted to read this. His shop was very local to me, and I have many memories ( some personal) of his shop and family.

I remember him at Oulton Park in the sixties it was when the Suzuki super six first came out I couldn't believe that a standard road bike could waste out and out race bikes but he did he won everything that day in his class. RIP Tom.

I was sad to hear that Tom had passed away. His last years were not easy ones, troubled by failing eyesight.
I remember him as a Honda dealer, on the Wirral I think, and very outspoken at dealer seminars.
He helped many riders though his dealership, I think Charlie Williams briefly rode for him
Rest in peace Tom, he was a decent bloke.

Tom was an amazing character who had a full and exciting life. I had the pleasure of visiting him and his first wife, Ann, a couple of times in Northern Ireland. Special memories for me.

RE: Tom Loughridge - R.I.P.
Thank you for this thread,

Tom became my Father in Law just about 8 years ago when he married my Mother in Law - Marion in Ballymoney, N. Ireland.

Almost every Sunday my wife and I would go up to Ballymoney and visit Tom and he told the most amazing stories - about his time as a big time car dealer in the Wirral in the 80's and 90's, or his time riding with Princess Anne, or his tales about the "Lady in the Bath" murder at the time and how he was at first a suspect and then took it upon himself to investigate and then prove that he was innocent - due to an exclusive Mercedes number plate.

But most of all I loved his stories about the IOM TT in the 70's.

I literally sat for hours most weekends and listened to him telling me about his records, the culture and circumstances about his laps. Not many people know about the "eye" story and how he raced on the IOM TT with a glass eye, but *I* know the story - happy to share if there is interest.

I miss Tom every day - he became very quickly like the Father I never had and I never thought I would find a thread like this.

Here are some pics of Tom :

Thanks
Dave

You cannot paste a picture.

You can upload it as an attachment if it is no more than  300k (needs to  be small and compressed)

If in difficulty then email it to me and I'll deal with it.
