The Manx Motor Cycle Club, as organisers of the 2020 Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix Races are proposing several changes to the practice sessions, the most significant being that the first practice will now commence one day later on Sunday 23 August, with a longer afternoon session.
The evening sessions from Monday to Thursday will see classes split per session on alternate evenings, based on machine speeds in order to maximise the time competitors will have on the Course to qualify for the event.
It is also proposed that the final practice session will move from the evening to the afternoon on Friday 28th August. There will further qualifying sessions before the Classic TT Races commence on Saturday 29 and Monday 31 August.
Club Chairman, Peter Maddocks commented
“There have been concerns for sometime about the lack of day light in the evenings reducing the number of practice laps for all our riders and feel the Sunday and Friday afternoon sessions will help to alleviate the problem. The re-vamped schedule will mitigate the demands that are placed on riders and volunteers including the TT Marshals Association and local residents”
The first Race of the 2020 Manx Grand Prix will be the Newcomers at 16:30hrs on Monday 31 August.
The Junior Manx Grand Prix on Wednesday 2 September takes place at 10:15hrs followed by MGP Lightweight Race 1 and MGP Ultra Lightweight Race 1 (run concurrently) at 13:15hrs.
Friday 4 September sees racing start at 10:15hrs with MGP Lightweight Race 2 and MGP Ultra Lightweight Race 2 (run concurrently). The MGP Blue Riband Senior Manx Grand Prix will commence at 13:15hrs.
