MCAMS TO CONTINUE AS TITLE SPONSOR OF YAMAHA’S OFFICIAL TEAM FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR IN 2022

McAMS, the UK’s leading motorcycle accident management service, has extended their title sponsorship of Yamaha’s official team in the Bennetts British Superbike championship for a sixth consecutive year in 2022.

The announcement comes after the team stormed to success in the 2021 championship, becoming title-winners with Tarran Mackenzie while a combined total of 21 victories and 42 podiums for Mackenzie and teammate Jason O’Halloran from the 33 races saw the McAMS Yamaha team clinch the team’s trophy and manufacturers’ crown for Yamaha too.

McAMS first joined forces with Raceways Motorcycles when the British Supersport squad stepped up to the Superbike class to be Yamaha’s official team in 2017. Since then, McAMS Yamaha has won 31 Bennetts BSB races and stood on the podium 83 times.

Forming part of Anexo Group PLC, Direct Accident Management, McAMS and the wider group have been helping people who have been involved in non-fault motorcycle, car and cycling accidents since the company was founded in 1996. Their relationship with Yamaha goes far beyond racing too, with much of their hire fleet featuring Yamaha motorcycles and scooters.

The deal makes McAMS one of the longest standing sponsors in the British Superbike paddock, having first joined the series as a supporting sponsor in 2014.

The 2022 McAMS Yamaha rider line-up will be announced in due course.

Valentina Slater, Sales Director, McAMS Yamaha said:

“We are delighted to continue with Steve and the team at Raceways and Yamaha for a sixth year in 2022. Since McAMS joined BSB in 2014 with the GBmoto team, we have had our hearts set on winning the championship so to achieve our dream this year was incredible – so now we’ve done it once, we want to do it again!

“Our relationship with the team is much more than a sticker on the bike and garage boarding, the whole team feel like family to us. McAMS as a brand has more than doubled in size since the start of our partnership and some of that growth can be directly attributed to our sponsorship.

“The Raceways team has been on an upwards trajectory since we joined them in 2017 and their sheer dominance in 2021 shows just what a force they are and we fully believe they can continue that in to 2022.”

Steve Rodgers, Team Principal said:

“In the years we have worked with McAMS, we have realised that sponsorship for them is about more than business. They are passionate motorcycle fans and their ultimate desire is to win – which funnily enough is exactly what we want too!

“We are so proud to have taken them to their dream of winning the BSB title and to do it in such emphatic fashion is exactly what they deserve. Each and every staff member at McAMS are key members of our team and over the last five years we have become great friends too. They live and breathe our team. They have celebrated with us when the times are good and they’ve cried with us when the times have been tough, as is the rollercoaster of BSB. I really hope we can reward them by defending their crown in 2022.”

Lee Neesham, Country Manager, Yamaha Motor UK commented:

“We are delighted that McAMS will continue to back the title-winning, official Yamaha Motor UK supported British Superbike team for a sixth consecutive year in 2022. The continuity of their support allows Steve and the team to go into the winter period with the focus on further developing the proven R1 package as they look to retain their title next year.

“The success enjoyed by the McAMS team in BSB this season, as well as other teams around the world, has shown that the latest version of the iconic R1 is the bike to beat. The McAMS team will continue to work closely with our World Superbike team in 2022 as they look to maintain their position as the strongest team in the paddock.

“Our partnership with McAMS and Raceways goes far beyond the race track but it’s our shared passion for racing that bonds us when the flag drops and we can’t wait to see what the McAMS Yamaha team can achieve in 2021. We are now looking forward to Revving the heart of all the passionate race fans across the UK during the 2022 season.”
