Manx GP results 1955
After reading Splashdowns mention of the origins of the Torrens Trophy I thought I'd try & occasionally post random items from years gone by!
I've just acquired a stack of The Motor Cycle papers, seemingly from 1948 to around 1958 (more to come I believe!) & there's some amazing stuff in there.
If anyone wants me to have a look at a certain date for any results or mentions, I'll have a see what I can find (time permitting!)
Anyway, here's the Manx GP Senior results from 1955, some familiar names in that lot!

I've got some of my late father's Blue 'uns and Green 'uns up in the loft. Wish I could find a way to get up there without breaking my neck...

Did you notice the guy who finished 44th? One F. Sheene - Barry's dad?

I think so Sticky, & a Mr. Buckmaster, father of Simon, not sure about the Mcguinness tho' (sorry, Big John!  Blush), Ivan Rhodes etc.
There's also Ellis Boyce, a chap I met around 35-40 years ago, when I used to deliver to supermarkets in our area. He delivered milk & we used to be at the same place, same time quite often, he never once mentioned his Isle of man exploits, it was only when one of the shop managers told me about it, then I got to talk to him about his time racing, a really nice chap, I believe he moved across to the island when he retired.

Hello Captain, like you I've just received some very old motorcycle magazines, not of Motor Cycle but of Motor Cycling, they're from 1953. I'd like to post something similar to the one you've posted, but I don't know how, can you give me some tips please?

Well, first of all you upload your images to a site like Flickr or Postimage, some now charge so be careful, unless you want to, of course! you'd probably get a better service?
Then you use the address/link/pathway of the image, after you've uploaded it, & insert it in the box that appears when you click on the "insert an image" icon (above the asterisk, hopefully!) You can usually resize when you first upload the image or when you post it, in the width & height boxes that appear, usually a width of around 640ish.
As I'm typing I'm sure I remember this being covered before, I'll have to have a look!

edit: you have to reply directly to this post to see where the asterisk is!!! I can't find a copy of the "insert an image" icon!! sorry Confused

Malcolm did this a while back - https://www.ttwebsite.com/forums/showthr...?tid=18350

There is a facility to store attachments on the ttwebsite server, but it is not activated. The problem is storage can be overrun very quickly when members post large uncompressed images.

The problem with third party sites is that images are lost when the user account goes or the free hosting closes or that site gets compromised. My other forum is littered with lost images from tinypic.

Perhaps its something to look at when we have certainty on this forum surviving

Many thanks for the image posting advice. I should've guessed that Malcolm had it covered already though.

Yes that's Barry's Dad, Frank Sheene, or Franco as he became known.
He used to sit in my caravan at Scarborough....he loved it there.
