The David Jefferies Memorial Lap Arrangements

Sunday 6th June 2004 - 1.00pm - All Welcome

Over the last couple of weeks there has been numerous meetings regarding the organisation of the DJ Memorial Lap. David Cretney, The Department of Tourism, The Police and all the other emergency services have been very helpful and we now have some proposed arrangements as follows:

1. The Grandstand Pit Area will be reserved on Sunday morning. It has been requested by the Department of Tourism and the Police that anybody wanting to take part in the lap please don't arrive around the Grandstand Area before 11.30am. We are trying to get athourisation at present for other areas around The Grandstand to be used for parking.

2. The Procession to be led by Pauline and Louise (Dave's Mum and Sister), a number of Production Racing Bikes and a Police vehicle.

It has been requested by the Department of Tourism and the Police that everybody respects the lead vehicle and should remain behind at all times as the lap progresses.

3. Procession will be lead away on open roads by a Police vehicle at 1pm.

4. Procession to follow the TT course following the lead police vehicle, stopping only as appropriate at traffic signals, roundabouts and junctions. The Police will manage the traffic signals and roundabouts to make the procession run as smooth as possible.

5. All participants in procession will be subject to normal Road Traffic Act requirements, including speed limits, observance of two way traffic (Except on the Mountain Section), and must observe the Highway Code in the interest of safety for themselves and others. Please remember what who this lap is for.

6. On completion of the lap the Production Racing Bikes will be admitted to the Grandstand pit area, and all other participants to disperse or park at the rear of the Grandstand.

7. There will be no collection points around the course but there will be an area around the paddock area to purchase DJ Stickers, T-Shirts, etc.

8. Manx Radio, Energy FM and the local press will be covering the event so please listen to Radio TT for details and updates.

9. If the F1 is postponed until the Sunday then the event will not go ahead, also if the weather is too bad with fog on the mountain then again the event will not go ahead, all details will be on Radio TT nearer the time.

We would like to thank everybody for there support and hope you can spare a couple of hours on the Sunday to remember this great ambassador for the sport.

Hear, hear, Richard has done a fantastic job in organising this event. Don't forget to buy a genuine DJ Tee Shirt in support of this event. I will not be able to ride but will be waving from the sideline somewhere around the course.
