S100 - Honorary Vice Presidents Appointed
[Image: s100hdr2012.jpg]

Two Honorary Vice Presidents were appointed at the 2012 Annual General Meeting of the Southern 100 MCRC.

Don Fairburn and Ron Kitching were honoured for nearly ninety years of service between them given to the organisation of the races on the Billown course, home of the friendly races, the Southern 100 and latterly the Pre & Post TT Road Races.

Ron Kitching first became involved with the races in 1967, with Don Fairburn joining the ranks twelve months later.

Ron for a number of years was Finishing Flag Marshal, before becoming one of the senior course car drivers - a position he has recently relinquished due to age restrictions and will now be found back on the Start Line acting as one of the Line Judges.

Don was Clerk of Works for many years and is currently Deputy Clerk of Works as well as being one of the vital Paddock Controllers once the action commences, be it practice or racing.

The position of Honorary Vice President has been part of the Southern 100 Racing constitution since 1982 when the current organisation was formed, however it is the first time Vice Presidents have been appointed in recognition of outstanding service to the races held on the Billown Course.

Club Chairman Phil Taubman praised both men for their continued commitment to the club and the the races over the years and looked forward to their further involvement as the club approached its Diamond Jubilee in 2015 and beyond !
