The Chairman of the Manx Grand Prix Riders Association is highly critical of proposals to change the format of the meeting from 2013.

The Department of Economic Development wants to re-name the event using the T.T. brand, shorten it to ten days and make classic bike racing the main feature.

John McBride says organisers seem to have only spoken to those who will agree with the move and produced misleading statistics to win support.

He says the proposed grids for races will only accommodate 50 riders and there appears to be no schedule for running postponed races.

And John McBride feels sorry for the Manx Motor Cycle Club as he thinks government is out to kick them into the long grass:-

this is just a joke, the iom government dont know when they are well off, its ok to entertain millionairs whith tax breaks ect ect, but if the economy goes propper tits up, they will be the first to fk off, the race fans have been going for 106 years, and show no signs of stopping despite a resession, all the manx needed was propper advertisement, and tv coverage, thundersport and bemsee clubs have come on leaps and bounds since tv coverage has come in, this will be my first mgp in the newcomers race , if they get there way it will be the last, it would do the manx government good if the uk government took the idea and developed a uk based tt races, im up for a pettition if any one else is ,,,,,,,rob,,,,,,rv racing derbyshire
