I have a pile of TT and MGP race guides from 2002 to 2010. Being a bit of an anorak, I am trying to complete these by filling in the leaderboards for each race and also the boxes for each rider i.e. whether they finished the race, retired on lap 2, were a non-starter, etc.

Most of the final race results are online on various sites but I'm struggling to find lap-by-lap results, especially pre-2010. Another problem I have is that if a rider does not feature on the final results or the lap-by-lap info, I have no way of knowing whether he was a non-starter or a retirement on the first lap of the race. A start list would be ideal for working this out, but I can't find any start lists pre-2010.

I've heard about the results books that were produced in days gone by - anyone know where I could find them and/or if they had start lists in them?

I'm not expecting to be able to find all the answers but any help or advice would be gratefully received!
