TT 2014 Fanzone plans to be announced at NEC bike show
Details of Isle of Man TT 2014, including latest information on Fanzones are set for release at this year’s NEC bike show.
The viewing areas with grandstand seating and wi-fi internet access allow fans to see race positions on line, as well as commentary of the races.
Zones were sited at popular spots such as Creg-ny-Baa, the Waggon and Horses, Ballacrye and Rhencullen, and an additional one was erected this year at the end of the race return road from the course on Glencrutchery Road to the paddock area.
TT and motorsport development officer Paul Phillips said the areas had proved popular.
‘We will certainly be doing the Fanzones again at next year’s event and have been inviting tenders to appoint someone to provide and erect the structures,’ he said.
‘There will be a few changes next year but the details will only be revealed on the TT days at this year’s bike show at the NEC later this month.’
He added the Noble’s extra grandstand had 99 per cent of tickets sold overall and a full house for the race days.
This year’s nine-day Motorcycle Live at the NEC will feature two TT days – one for the June event and the other for the Classic TT event that sits alongside the Manx Grand Prix at the end of August.
‘The days appearances by the star riders are very popular. It was a three-hour queue for John Mc Guinness and Guy Martin last year,’ he said.
