Millsport Ducati head the MCE British Superbike Championship field into this afternoon's Datatag Extreme Qualifying at Brands Hatch with Jakub Smrz pushing to the top of the times in the final seconds of the final free practice session.

A drying track created a hectic final five minutes of action on the Grand Prix circuit with the position at the top changing several times in the closing stages. First it was Howie Mainwaring on the Quattro Plant Kawasaki but then it was the turn of Richard Cooper as he pushed to the top.

The Lloyds British GBmoto Racing Kawasakis then had their spell at the top with James Ellison and Chris Walker but in the final moments Smrz put in a sequence of faster laps to go fastest. The Czech rider's lap put him ahead of Ryuichi Kiyonari who did his best lap of the session in the final minute to push Walker to third and Ellison to fourth.

PR Racing Kawasaki's Farmer held fifth despite the efforts from Cooper and then the first of the Milwaukee Yamahas in seventh. The Australian headed off Halsall Biker Gear Kawasaki's Jon Kirkham, Tyco Suzuki's John Hopkins and Tommy Bridewell.
