War for Four rages at Cadwell Park as Byrne edges Kiyo in second practice

The Cadwell Park weekend started one-all for the triple champions as Ryuichi Kiyonari topped the morning opener, but Shane 'Shakey' Byrne snatched the advantage in the second afternoon session ahead of Bank Holiday Monday's races.

At the start of the session the pair were literally inseparable, setting the exact same lap time in the opening 20 minutes. The Buildbase BMW team then edged ahead as Kiyonari pushed on through a race simulation this afternoon, but Byrne wasn't settling for second and he moved back to the top in the second part of the session.

Dan Linfoot was a rider on the move and he was climbing the order, moving ahead of Josh Brookes on the Milwaukee Yamaha in the final 15 minutes as he continues his run of form following his debut podium at Oulton Park last time out.

Chris Walker moved fourth fastest on the Lloyds British GBmoto Racing Kawasaki as Brookes dropped to fifth on the timesheets. Peter Hickman and the RAF Reserves Honda team ran as high as fourth earlier in the session and ended sixth fastest ahead of Stuart Easton and Barry Burrell on the Team WD-40 Kawasaki. Jon Kirkham and Howie Mainwaring competed the top ten whilst James Ellison was sixteenth at the end of the second session.

It was a dissapointing end to the weekend for Jakub Smrz as the Millsport Ducati rider suffered a fractured left wrist and will be forced to miss the remainder of the event.
