Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes and Tommy Bridewell have high hopes ahead of this weekend’s tenth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as the Showdown gets underway at the legendary Assen circuit.

Milwaukee Yamaha are the only team to have both riders represented in the Showdown and following a recent test at the Dutch circuit, Brookes and Bridewell are both feeling confident of a repeat performance of their Donington Park podium-finishing form.

Brookes arrives at Assen holding second place in the overall standings, 26 points adrift of series leader Shane Byrne. The Australian has previous winning form at the Dutch track and is determined to add to his winning tally this weekend. Bridewell holds fourth place in the overall standings and is eager to boost his podium tally during the Showdown, starting at Assen.

Brookes said:

“It is getting pretty serious now isn’t it? I have been in the Showdown every year we have had it so there was never any doubt in my mind that we wouldn’t be in this position. We were on the podium again at Donington Park so we are looking forward to going into the Showdown with some good form. We tested at Assen before Donington Park and we posted some good, consistent times and the Milwaukee Yamaha seems to work well there. I am eager now to get there and get the Showdown started as it feels like it has been a long year to get to the crunch time. I won’t approach the Showdown any differently; I try as hard as I can every time I am on the track.”

Bridewell said:

“It’s good to be at this point of the season. We tested at Assen recently and we were fast and the bike is strong so now I am looking forward to getting the Showdown started as I am ready to just get going. I am sure most of the boys feel the same because it is a lot of pressure just to make the top six and then the next minute we are into the final three rounds so we want to just get stuck in and have a good go for it. If we can have some luck and just leather the thing then we could win it or we could be sixth after the final round at Brands Hatch, we just have to keep pushing and see what happens.”
