Change to Sidecar Regulations for Southern 100

After changes to the regulations for the F2 Sidecars reverting to ‘standard’ engines for the Southern 100 International Road Races 2015, the organisers, Southern 100 Racing have made representation to the ACU the governing body of all motorcycle sport in the UK, who have now agreed to reverse the decision and allow Sidecar competitors to run to  F2TT specifications, as previously although the three-cylinder 675cc engines will still not be allowed.

Race Secretary George Peach said:

“It is now hoped with the sidecar engine regs remaining as they have been, that enthusiasts and fans of sidecar racing at Billown can expect the usual high standard and quantity of entries they have become used to at the Southern 100.

“We have received numerous phone calls, emails and text messages from the sidecar teams concerned about the change of regulations and would not be entering, mainly due to the extra expense of preparing an additional engine.

We now look forward to receiving sidecar entries for our Diamond Jubilee Road Races in July.”

RE: Change to Sidecar Regulations for Southern 100
I could never understand why they changed the rules in F2 side cars to allow different engines for different races , why ?? at a time when they were trying to keep costs down to encourage more people to take part ,
