Full Schedule for Armoy Race Week

The week launches on Sunday 24th July with the popular annual Bike Run and Barbeque, which will head off to Ballymoney passing the Dunlop Memorial Gardens then on to Limavady via Aghadowey and Ringsend. The ride will then take in the views at Downhill and Benone, pausing for a quick photo opportunity at Mussenden Temple in Castlerock

before returning to Armoy for a couple of laps of the circuit followed by a barbeque beside the River Bush. Last year, over 100 riders signed on for this now very popular annual tour. This can all be enjoyed for the small sum of £10. Contact Joe O’Kane (077 3287 9536) for further information.

Later that evening, a Church serviceled by Reverend C Easton will take place at 6.00 pm in St Patrick’s Church Hall. Everyone welcome.

William Munnis, Chairman of the Course, said, 

“We have a busy week of activities leading up to the main races on Saturday and I’d encourage everyone to come along and join in, particularly the church service on the Sunday evening which provides an opportunity to give thanks and for quiet reflection on the week ahead.

Tuesday 26th July: Horseshoe Throwing Competition:
 

The Rook’s Nest pub, Armoy will be holding a horseshoe throwing competition in Riverside Park Armoy. Registration is from 6.15 pm with competition commencing at 6.30 pm. Entry fee is £3.00 per person. Trophies and cash prizes will be presented to the winner and runner up afterwards in the Rook’s Nest pub. Car Boot Sale: 

Also taking place will be a Car Boot and Auto Jumble Sale which will take place in the car park at Armoy Presbyterian Church, Drones Road, Armoy. For further information and to register your interest, please contact Selma McMullan on 077 5267 8454

Wednesday 27th July:Classic Car Display: 

Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club will be visiting Armoy at 7.00pm. This regular spectacle attracts all types of classic, rare and collectable cars and trucks and a huge number of enthusiasts turn out in the village to admire the scene and enjoy the craic as they watch the vehicles head off on their tour of the Armoy Race Circuit. Refreshments will be available in Tilly Molloy’s Hall.

Thursday 28th July: 

Classic Bike Display & Miss Armoy Competition. Gathering of the Coleraine Motorcycle Club & the Japanese Vintage Club’s display of bikes from our racing past. Bikes will be on show outside Tilly Molloy's in Armoy village from 7.00 pm. Refreshments will be available afterwards in Tilly Malloy’s Hall

Thursday 28th July: 

Miss Armoy Competition, Guest Judges will choose who will take the title of 'Miss Armoy 2016’. The competition will be held in the marquee in the paddock from 9.00pm. There will be an event bar and live music provided by local rock band ‘Roll the Dice’. Last year saw a great night with road racers and locals enjoying a social evening before practice begins the next morning.

“As one of the major highlights of Bike Week, Miss Armoy welcomes young women from all over Northern Ireland and the local area to come along and enjoy a great night’s craic at Armoy. We will have music from local band ‘Roll the Dice’ so it will be a great evening. As per last year we’ll have our first race on Friday night – it’s the Supersport Race 1 600cc. 
     
“On Saturday, road racing begins in earnest in Armoy with the SGS International ‘Race of Legends’, which consists of a full 10 Race Dayprogramme including a Parade Lap. Our Corporate and VIP guests will be enjoying the races in style at our fabulous VIP Corporate Hospitality Marquee.

“As part of Tourism NI’s Year of Food and Drink 2016, Armoy will be showcasing local food and drink at a dedicated market hosted by Naturally North Coast & Glens which will be located in a designated marquee in our paddock area during practice and race days.

“And on Race Day, Saturday 30th, Cromore Castle Children’s Entertainment will be in place beside the food and drink marquee in the paddock area providing bouncy castles, face painting and balloon modelling for our younger visitors so there really is something for everyone.

“We hope everyone enjoys this packed week of activities and the races and comes along to show their support”

Roads close on Friday to allow for qualifying and race practice from 12:30pm and will reopen no later than 9:30pm. 

On Saturday, roads close from 10:00am and reopen no later than 7:30pm.

The event is part funded by Tourism Northern Ireland and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and Bike Week runs from Sunday 24th July until Saturday 30th July 2016 with the SGS International ‘Race of Legends’ featuring on the Saturday 30th July 2016.


Please support the Armoy Road Races by buying a programme. 

They will be available from the AMRRC office, the Petrol Station in Armoy and other local outlets from Monday 18th July 2016 and cost £10.00.
