Can anyone help identify this TT turn?
Hello this is my first post.  I inherited photos and slides from the 1971 TT which I'd very much like to identify.
This slide is marked 'TT' but the bikes look more like production racers than GP bikes? so wondering if this is the Manx GP?
I am obviously not local to the Isle of Man (sorry for that) and I've perused many online images of many locations on the island,
but cannot find any building that looks remotely similar to the one in the photo .. possibly torn down?

Brief question is... can anyone please identify the name of this corner and the establishment in the background?

For my eyes the second bike looks very much like a Maico. Probably with number 20. If so it is Swede Borje Jansson who 1970 finished 2nd after 3 laps without a pitstop. I believe that the riders started two by two that year and in that case the picture must have been shot at the first lap. Not shure though...

Thanks so much for all the responses!  plenty more 'mysteries' to be posting... and so here is another. This slide
is only marked 'TT' and the date on the slide is June, 1970...  any assistance in identifying any of the components - rider - class - and machine will be much appreciated!

The photo is taken in the 125 TT at Creg ny Baa.
I THINK it is Jim Curry, but maybe John Kiddie. Someone on here WILL know.
The bike is a 125 Honda, unless I am very much mistaken.

Splashdown is correct.  The Creg, Jim Curry - 125 Honda.   I'll get back to you on the other shot - just kicking some ideas around.

Right, I'm 99% sure that the first rider on the 125 Honda is Nev Watts.  The helmet design would be correct for him.  I don't think this shot was taken during a race though.  The 2nd bike looks to have green number plates, indicating a 250, so I think this is a practice shot.  Borje Jansson was entered in the 250 on a 'Yamasaki'  but I'm not convinced its him.  The aspect of the pic is a bit skewed making the 2nd bike very narrow but it could be something like a 250 Ducati - there was one in the race ridden by a J McNeil about whom I know absolutely nothing!  Is it possible to make out the rider's number in the original shot?

Trying to enhance the contrast I'd say it begins with a three and the second digit may be a nine

Just done the same as you all, on this picture,
But went back to black and white,
Pretty sure its the number 38 bike,
Rider unknown to me,
But I would say looking at it, Its the 250 Ducati,

The Quarter Bridge shot is almost certainly a practice shot. Probably taken at around 6.30 pm, i.e. first lap of practice.
The sun is beginning to set over Peel.

Sorry I missed the info in the first post in this thread. Read too fast! If it's from 1971 it can't be Borje who is second as he had start number 3 in 1971...
I know a guy who has the official programs from 1970 and 1971 so soon we'll find out about riders. Sorry that the starting numbers those years are not mentioned in the TT-data base.

Well I am the one at fault here... most of the slides are from June 1970 but that particular Quarterbridge slide (first in thread) is undated... sorry! Not necessarily 1971 so my bad for sure. 

So....  I tried another scan of the trailing bike in that first slide and here is the best I can do, the number *appears* to be '98' on the trailing bike.

Again, this particular Quarterbridge slide (ie first in thread) is undated, so sorry for any confusion!

I have another Quarterbridge slide with unknown rider and unknown date, so I will post that separately.

Now, I do not wish to run afoul of the moderator here, and technically none of these slides constitute a 'quiz' since a quiz implies that the poser (of the question to be sure) knows the answer.  And I certainly don't. (know the answers) But since the response has been so positive and prompt I'd like to continue along this line, with separate posts for separate subjects in this category, if that is acceptable?

Right Sticky, 1971 I was a mechanic for Borje and his 250 Yamasaki was definitely not red as his Maico 125 with number 3 in 1971. By the way, Yamasaki was a Yamaha TD2 engine in a Kawasaki A1 R frame. The engine was bought in Germany in spare parts. So it can't be him as the second in the Quarter Bridge image. I didn't see that the image probably is from 1971 (or 70). My suggestion about Borje as the second one was built on the fact that i believed that it was from 1970 when Borje rode his 125 Maico with number 20. Obviously I was wrong!

Hi Silja

All interesting stuff!  The bike in the picture has black plates so definitely a 125.  His style does remind of Borje though, even though we now know it's not him!

Facts about "the mystery" pictures will show up soon. It's just to read the programs for 1970 and 1971. Somewhere are the result lists as well but they have to be found here at home somewhere...

Things on this thread are sorted out! The Quarter Bridge picture is from 1971 on practice. The first rider is number 21, Nev (maybe Ralph) Watts on a Honda CR93.
The second rider on a 125 Maico with number 38 is Jean Louis Pasquier. (So my first guess about a Maico was correct! Wrong rider though...)

The second picture on the thread is from Creg-ny-Baa 1970. It is Jim Curry with number 5 on a Honda, probably CR93.
All this is according to the official programs and result lists from that time. They are found now! Coming back to the other thread "Three more TT mystery photos... can you help? " later.
