Long Shot.......
Hi all,
I am trying to find the name of the artist who's bike artwork is featured on the 1997 Isle of Man 50p Coin.
I've found a pic of it on ebay but dont think I can post it here.
I have a friend who wants a tattoo of the pic done,as her Dad used to be a bike racer.
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Long Shot.......
Rich,
Try the IOM treasury somewhere in the IOM government site, sorry I don't recall the site address.
Good Luck,
Big D.

Re: Long Shot.......
'Just a guess - but it may be Colleen Corlett who is currently prolific in IOM stamp design.

Re: Long Shot.......
This dreadful heptagon coin is said to depict Phil McCallen leading Robert Dunlop out of what looks like a bog. It is no wonder the artist wants his or her name kept a secret.
Also I believe that it is a building tradition to place a 50p coin under the main column of a new building on the IOM, perhaps this coin would be a good choice.

Re: Long Shot.......
Don,
I would totally agree!
That 1997 coin was the poorest depiction of any of the "roadracing" coins produced on behalf of the IOM Government.
The earlier coins...especially the 1981 50p coin of Joey on the Rea Yamaha is superb in comparison.
Chas.
