The McAMS Yamaha Team returned to the track to complete their private test program this week, after a productive day at the Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.

With the COVID-19 delayed British Superbike Championship getting underway in just over two weeks, both Jason O’Halloran and Tarran Mackenzie focused on completing more laps aboard their 2020 YZF-R1s as they prepare for the delayed season.

The test marked the third outing for the team on the superbike since lockdown restrictions eased, after a shakedown test at Knockhill two weeks ago and a brief outing at Donington Park last week.

Both riders enjoyed returning to Croft, a track that hasn’t featured on the BSB calendar since 2011.

Mackenzie had a positive and productive day as he took to the Croft circuit for the first time in over ten years. The Ashby-de-la-Zouch based rider focused on completing as many laps as possible ahead of next week’s official BSB test at Donington Park.

On the other side of the garage, O’Halloran enjoyed getting back out on his superbike-spec R1 after completing a few days on a road bike at Cadwell Park and Oulton Park earlier this month.

McAMS Yamaha will head to Leicestershire’s Donington Park for a final full day of test action next week, before the 2020 BSB season commences between August 7-9 at the same venue.

Tarran Mackenzie

“It was nice to be back out on the Superbike at Croft today. I haven’t ridden there for over ten years, so it was a bit of an eye-opener to ride the superbike there. After riding the practice bike for a while, it was nice to spin some more laps on the R1. We have a week off before heading to Donington for the official test.

We didn’t focus on anything particular; it was more about getting laps under my belt and getting back into the swing of things. I’m looking forward to getting back out next week and to get the season underway.”

Jason O'Halloran

“It’s been really good to get back out at Croft after a few days on the road bike. We didn’t change the bike’s settings too much, which is great because we’ve ridden at three different circuits and I have felt comfortable everywhere.

Croft is a bit different to what we’re used to, but it was nice to return and get some laps completed, so thank you for the team for bringing us out here. Now we’re looking forward to Donington Park next week.”

Steve Rodgers - Team Principal

“After such a long period not riding, it was important to get both Taz and Jason back out on the superbike to ensure they are prepared for the season ahead.

“We didn’t have a lot of testing items to work through as we’d done that in the pre-season, it was more about making sure everything is OK and the boys are happy before we start turning the wheels in anger at Donington next month.

“Everything went as well as we could have hoped and we feel we’re in a strong position for the season getting underway. It’s been a strange year, but it’s almost time to go racing
