Southern 100 Racing are delighted to send their heartiest congratulations to Mrs Doreen Mylchreest on her 100th birthday, 5th October 2020.

Along with her late husband Brian, the Mylchreest name has been associated with the Southern 100 Road Races since it was first run on Thursday 14th July 1955.

Brian with Doreen as co-driver in their own MG Magnette officially closed the roads around the Billown Course and re-opened them once the races were concluded, a duty they continued up to and including 1963, with course inspections added as required by the Clerk of Course.

The Mylchreest Group, as the business on New Castletown Road in Douglas is now known has been involved with the Southern 100 and other races on the Colas Billown Course almost continuously over the past 65 years with Brian and Doreen’s son David becoming an official driver in 1999 and his son, James joining him in 2015.

Southern 100 Chairman, George Peach said:

‘On behalf of all involved with the Southern 100, I would like to wish Mrs Doreen Mylchreest many congratulations on her 100th birthday and hope she has a very enjoyable day with her family and friends.

‘I would also like to thank her and her late husband Brian for their initial support in 1955 and loyalty to the Southern 100 since, which is continued today with son David and grandson James at the wheel of a Mylchreest Group supplied Course Cars. We are incredibly grateful indeed.’
