Earlier on today I had a message that the website was being targeted by scammers and was trying to get personal details ie bank details and other personal information did anyone else have the same problem

Misleading message, probably deliberately so. The hosting and hence security certificate expired and hence the site has been down most of the day.

The owner has received several warnings but taken no action I am told.

I could not get hold of the owner once again, so I have contacted the hosting company and paid the £94.95 invoice out of the £112 funds I had banked for the forum.

There is the second half of the bill to pay next week for just over £20 and that will exhaust what I hold.

I will repeat this post and comment there on the future in the admin section so it does not get lost.
