Dustbin fairings will re-appear at this years TT but only in the Senior Race.

This decision to allow them for one year only, comes hot off the press and has been made "to commemorate a part of TT history when the 100 mph lap was attained in 1957".

The new all-enclosing fairings will be kevlar based and will be allowed to have small aerodynamic wings to stabilise the machine.

Of course, you surely all realise that in these days
of ABC (alternate "bin" collection), dustbins would not
be permitted except every other week.

Putting all the humour and April Tom foolery to one side,
I have been very much reminded of the man, the one great
rider who was responsible for getting me hooked on motorcycle
racing and the TT in particular.
Who is that you ask?
Why Robert Mcgergor Mcintyre of course.

Ah MV!! You've hit the nail right on the head. R McG McIntyre on the Gilera did it for me too. And I wonder for how many others? The photo of of him at the bottom of Bray Hill crouching jockey style in the 57 Senior with all the sinews of his neck muscles at full stretch, will live with me for ever.
In fairness some of the modern day photos such as Martin Finnegan at the bottom of Barregarrow are quite extraordinary, and I'm sure will "do it" for today's youngsters in just the same way.

May I add that your own family did quite a bit to inspire me as well!!
Tony was a bit special and cut quite a figure on the big Triumph.
His TT record was a good one, too.

You yourself have been no mean rider over the years.
I was in the same hotel as you one year early on in your career.

Then, there was the one and only DJ.........
'nuff said.

Of course, the family name was familiar to me, even BEFORE yourself
and Tony.

I have been going over to the Island since the heady days of 1967.
Needless to say, I feel quite a bond with so many who perform in this unique arena we know and love as the "Island"

Thank you MV, or is that Meccanica Verghera? I love the TT for the romantic and nostalgic past, and I accept there are obvious tragedies along the way. That's just the way it is in this sport of ours. It is not for the faint hearted; nor should we heed the instinct of the do gooders or we'll all be banned from our Playstations lest we fatigue our eyesight in a non smoke filled room!!
I look forward to meeting you on the coach tour. Now where's that alarm clock?
By the way, which hotel was it we shared?

I would like to add my bouquet to a great racing dynasty - I shared a Douglas back-street garage with Tony in....'70 or '71. I remember it principally because he managed to back his van into the front of my Mini Clubman! Being the gentleman he is, he held his hands up, and coughed up for the repair.
