Can't believe that in the Manx independant newspaper that there was talk of cancelling the TT. Yet again the media has blown this out of all proportion. We Have 8 cases in the UK, that aren't much worse than a heavy cold. Before we had 24hr news we would not be any the wiser. Does the island think by cancelling the TT it will stop the virus going over. Unless you stop every person travelling it won't stop it. Yet again panic seems to be setting in.

'Too early' to cancel TT 2009

The words of Chief Minister Tony Brown, when asked if Swine Flu could affect the running of the TT.

followed by:-

"'It's important that we don't move too quickly on that and make decisions that we shouldn't make",

He said it was also important not to pre-judge and added: 'At the moment the TT is going ahead.'



I don't see any panic in his responses, however perhaps the media reporting this initially were getting way too far ahead of events.

facemasks with the Paper to us before we get on the ferries !

Seriously, we lost TT2001 because of the chance that Foot and Mouth, once introduced to the Island, could ravage the Manx animals and some of the humans who drink on the quayside !

Of course the Isle of Man is an island so we must consider what a pandemic could do in such an enclosed area surrounded by water.

However, a cool considered approach must be applied, don't panic Mr Mannering !

There aren't any Mexican riders entered, are there ?.

Let's all hope and pray that this Swine Flu is contained as soon as possible, I want the TT to be ON !!
