James Toseland will make his Yamaha R1 World Superbike debut in a test session in Portugal later this month.Tech 3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal has given permission for the South Yorkshire rider to test at Portimao.
The session is immediately after the final World Superbike race on October 25. Toseland, aged 28, will fly straight from the Sepang MotoGP in Malaysia to make his R1 debut.
He is moving back to World Superbikes in 2010 having been dumped from the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad to make way for 2009 WSB sensation Ben Spies.
Toseland, who has three races left as a Yamaha Tech 3 rider, will be joined by new team-mate Cal Crutchlow.
