Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship
Jon Kirkham had to settle for second best a quarter of a second down on Richard Cooper in a hard fought ninth round of the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship but the Derby rider was not too disappointed as his lead in the title stakes increase to 65.
Kirkham had made the early running but Cooper, riding a similar BMW, was always snapping at the exhausts of his bike and it was no surprise that the lead changed on the fifth lap, with Cooper running out front.
Scott Smart looked set for third place till he ran marginally wide on the last lap, with Glen Richards charging through to cross the line in third place ahead of Jimmy Storrar and Tristan Palmer with Smart, whose Ducati blew with the flag in sight limping into fifth.
Palmer stays second in the standings, 178-113 down on Kirkham while Howie Mainwaring, finishing eighth is a further three points down. Steve Plater, returning from injury ran twelfth, just ahead of John McGuinness.
Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship
John Simpson powered into contention to take the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championhip title as he eased to victory by some 2.542secs ahead of Jimmy Hill in a race decided over seven laps.
Dominic Usher had made the early running but Simpson was always in contention and it was no surprise that he nosed in front on the second lap but adrift of him there was plenty of incident.
Series leader Josh Day had moved third, but then ran wide onto the grass, dropping back to ninth while Hill, riding strongly, came through from fifth on the opening lap to grab second from Josh Wainwright.
Day now leads 140-125 over Danny Buchan with Simpson closing in on 118 points.
Earlier, the action had been red-flagged moments after Simpson had snatched the lead from Wainwright with a brave move down the hill towards the Gooseneck after Nick Clark had crashed heavily at Mansfield with his bike lying in the track. Buchan who just bettered the lap record also tipped off in a separate incident.
SpeedyRetail.com British 125GP Championship
Rob Guiver, with his second victory of the season, closed within six points of the leader in the chase for the SpeedyRetail.com British 125GP Championship crown James Lodge who crashed spectacularly at Mansfield at half distance.
Guiver ran over 13 seconds clear of ACU Academy Cup class winner John McPhee with Andrew Reid second in that class and third overall ahead of Shaun Horsman with Edward Rendell, the leader on the road, credited with fifth place having incurred a 20 seconds penalty for a jump start.
Fraser Rogers and Taylor Mackenzie both tipped off in the early stages of the race.
Henderson Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy
Mike Edwards snatched last lap victory ahead of the leader in the Harley Davidson XR1200 Trophy title stakes, Jeremy McWilliams, at Cadwell Park.
Former Grand Prix rider McWilliams, starting from pole had forged clear from the start, running almost two seconds clear of the pack on the opening lap of the with Edwards back in fourth.
It looked to be all so easy for McWilliams has he increased his advantage while Edwards was scrapping furiously to find a way ahead of Alex Gault and James Webb.
Edwards was running second on the fourth lap but was some 1.6 seconds down on McWilliams.
The race was beginning for real now as Edwards hotted up the pace, but Gault was in no mood to let him get away, briefly snatching second place, only to tip off at the Chicane.
Edwards was back into second and closing McWilliams down as he sensed that he was on course for a first victory of the season.
McWilliams was trying everything he knew to hold the determined Edwards at bay but going into the final lap there was barely a third of a second between them.
Edwards had that little bit extra, grabbing the lead and the victory by half a second to close within 14 points of McWilliams with all to play for in the final two races of the series which will decide the outcome of the title.
Jeremy McWilliams avenged his defeat of Sunday evening as he cruised to victory, and sealed the Henderson Harley Davidson XR1200 trophy title in the Monday morning race, held over from the rain spoiled Knockhill meeting.
He had made the early running but Mike Edwards had just moved ahead on the third lap when the red flags came out as Julian Tillotson crashed heavily at Park Corner.
On the re-start, over five laps, McWilliams forged clear with Edwards chasing him down before slowing, and then attempting to make a running repair to what turned out to be a broken gear lever before pitting.
James Webb moved second ahead of Torquil Paterson while Alex Gault was sidelined with a machine problem and then on the penultimate lap, Paterson took second with Webb having to settle for third ahead of Darren James, Ed Smith and Guy Martin
