Manx Grand Prix Official Honoured

Long time Manx Grand Prix Official, Dr. David Stevens MBE has recently been awarded two unique honours within Motor Sport - being invited to become an Officiel d’Honneur of the Motor Sports Association and being presented with a Recognition Certificate, from the world governing body, the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), celebrating his contribution to motor sport safety in the medical field.

The Officiel d’Honneur honour is only awarded to a select number of Senior Officials in the sport – there are currently only around 20 such holders across Britain and all its islands, encompassing all aspects of the sport.

The Award and presentation was made to Dr David Stevens MBE prior to the start of an MSA Officials Seminar held on the Isle of Man earlier this month, by Allan Dean-Lewis MBE, Vice President of the FIA Volunteer and Officials Commission and the MSA UK Director of Training and Education, who said ‘He was delighted to be on the island, especially to present Dr David Stevens with the well deserved recognition of his service and involvement in motor sport.’

Dr Stevens has been Medical Director of the Manx Grand Prix for many years and continues in that role for the 2014 Manx Grand Prix which is part of the Festival of Motorcycling takes take place between 16th and 29th August.

All involved with the Manx Motor Cycle Club and the Manx Grand Prix are delighted that David has been recognised by the Motor Sports Association for his life-long dedication to motorcycle and motor sport both on the Isle of Man.
