Joey Dunlop Foundation Newsletter - March 2011

Author: JD Foundation
Posted on: Tuesday, Mar 29 2011

Our first guests of 2011 arrived last weekend and have enjoyed the facilities at Braddan Bridge House with the added bonus that the weather has been excellent.

We are now preparing for The Quality in Tourism Assessor’s visit and look forward to receiving our grading. This will be a significant step forward as we will then be an official provider of accessible facilities for people with special needs.

Like all Charities, fund raising is always on going and we have several events planned including the annual Joey Dunlop Memorial Ride out on the 2nd July 2011.If you wish to attend the ride out then please send me an E mail or visit our stall at the North West 200.

With accommodation available from £200 per week, we are able to maintain these low tariffs providing we continue to receive the on-going support from local businesses and our loyal supporters.

There still remains a misconception that we only cater for ex racers, the facilities are open all year and are available to anyone with a disability or just require that little bit of comfort when on holiday.

Special rates are available for bookings from organisations that wish to bring children on holiday.

MARTIN FINNEGAN

Many people are not aware that Martin was an ardent supporter of the Joey Dunlop Foundation, he attended many on island events travelling at his own expense and always provided items for auction. When travelling to the Irish events, if we encountered any problems Martin would ensure that JDF had access to the paddock.

We would like to recognise Martins association with Joey’s Charity.

Following the approval of Martin’s widow, we propose to place a bench in our garden and are asking friends and fans of Martin to make a donation to assist with the cost.

All donors’ names will be recorded in a register that will be on display in our reception area alongside the Brick Sponsors Cards.

Donations should be sent to Braddan Bridge House, Peel Road, Braddan,Isle of Man IM44TN and cheques payable to Joey Dunlop Foundation.

Further information can be obtained via our website or simply send me an e mail.
