The morning warm-up sessions were run but after a consultation between the MCRCB, Dorna UK and the Mondello Park circuit it was decided to cancel the day’s proceedings. Stuart Higgs, BSB Race Director: “Due to the constant heavy rain we have been unable to prepare the circuit in a manner suitable for competition. We had warm up sessions for the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock classes and further reviewed the circuit for racing. At 2.00pm, in consultation with the Mondello Park circuit and Dorna UK, a joint decision was made to cancel the event. The Superbike races will not be rescheduled. The 125 race will be run at a double-header at Mallory Park and a decision will be made in the next two to three days regarding the Superstock and Supersport races.”
Havier Beltran: “It’s a difficult call for them. It’s difficult for Mondello Park circuit as well and a tough decision for the Race Director, Stuart Higgs. In the interests of safety it’s the right decision and its just a shame the rain has been so bad and there’s just so much standing water.” The next rounds of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship and the British Supersport Championship take place at Mallory Park, Leicestershire in two weeks time (3/4 June).
