Ninth Place Finish For McGuinness

Liverpool-based rider Brogan, who joined the HM Plant outfit for the final four races of the season, looked to have executed a blistering start to the 16-lap race and slotted into third place by the first turn, however the 25-year-old was soon penalised for a jump start and as a result had a ride through penalty which he took on the end of lap four. Brogan rejoined in 17th place, finally finishing in 15th place when the race was red-flagged on the beginning of lap 11 due to the onset of rain. Despite the race not having reached the two-thirds distance it was decided not to restart it due to live television schedule constraints.

John McGuinness had qualified his Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in ninth place but did not get a strong start to his final race of the year and as a result was running in 14th place by the end of the opening lap. McGuinness made up four places and brought his season to a close with a valuable eight points elevating him to ninth in the final championship standings.

Steve Brogan:
“The lights seemed to be on for a long while and I guess I was just a bit keener than anyone else to get away! I was gutted to ruin my last race. I have really enjoyed the whole Honda experience and would like to give a big thank you to Honda for giving me the opportunity to race for them in the last four races this year, it has been great.”

John McGuinness:
“The season started off good but I had a mid season lull but luckily I got back into scoring some points. I’ve enjoyed working with Honda and in particular my team of mechanics; it has been great fun. Outside of the BSB the roads have also been successful; the North West 200 and the TT were tremendous and now I’m just looking forward to the Race of the Year with Honda.”
