The weather forecast for today issued by the Met. Office at Ronaldsway at 10am. Conditions should continue to slowly improve during the remainder of the morning. It is expected to be dry by this afternoon with some cloud breaks although the hill mist is likely to linger and may effect the highest parts of the Course during the afternoon.

The first race of the new century, the six lap T.T. Formula 1 Race is scheduled for a 2pm start. In practice David Jefferies (V&M Honda) knocked 8.4 seconds off Steve Hislops 1991 lap record when he went round in 18m 11.6s, at 124.43mph to lead Jason Griffiths (Cowles Yamaha 1000), who lapped at 120.65mph by 34.2 seconds. Jason in turn led Jim Moodie (Honda Britain Fireblade) - 120.38mph - by 2.5 seconds. The top six was completed by Ian Lougher (Yamaha 1000), 120.17mph, Joey Dunlop (Honda VTRSP1) 120.10mph and Blair Degerholm (W&C Kawasaki ZX7RR) 119.56mph.

The second race today, scheduled for a 5pm start is the three lap Sidecar Race 'A'. Rob Fisher / Rick Long (Baker Honda 600) were fastest in practice with a lap of 20m 38.2s - 109.70mph - to lead John Holden / Rod Pearce (Molyneux Yamaha 600) - 109.52mph - by just two seconds with Ian Bell / Neil Carpenter (DMR Yamaha R6) - 108.65mph in third place a further 10 seconds down. Gary Horsepole / Kevin Leigh (Honda 600) - 108.26mph - was fourth. Allan Schofield / Ian Simons (Honda 600) - 106.49mph was fifth and Geoff Bell / Craig Hallam (Windle Yamaha 600) - 106.42mph completed the top six.
