I sincerely hope you are wrong, pikey! The two kinds of racing are totally different, the mountain course an individual test of skill, needing memory, control, calculated risk-taking - the sheer thrill of being able to ride a familiar and varying road the way one should be able to ride any road, were it not for the presence of others!
Not many things in life have really frightened me, but mass start racing alongside many others, some of whom seem to undergo a frontal lobotomy as the flag drops, on a circuit with stone walls, bumps, lamp posts etc....let me just say that IMHO the Billown circuit and Oliver's Mount should be in the same category as the original Nurburgring - ex-circuits. With the extra prestige that the TT title would bring to Castletown, too many riders would become too brave, with the inevitable result. Keep the TT on the mountain circuit.

In that case if it's true and they do get the International status, the likes
of the holiday racers will be stung in the pocket again ! That's for the ones
that willn't be doing TT/MGP or the likes.
Then I'll wait a bit longer see what else comes out the woodwork before
sending off for my licence, incase I waste my money. It's just becoming
more expense very year, it's any wonder if any newcomers can afford to do the MGP yet alone established riders.

What exactly are you saying Pykey, "in a couple of years"? that is 2008, that the Southern will replace the TT. I know there has been a widespread strong suspicion for some years that the 2007 Centenary will ne the last TT on the Mountain Circuit. No doubt influenced by all of the hype and spin about the great celebrations and black tie dinner and a gathering of the greats.

I know you are well connected so do you know something the rest of us don't?

Tom - nice idea, but the trouble with trying to do any business here is finding out who wants the little brown envelopes, and how much goes in them.........Just a few weeks ago the joke was "Which town in Spain has the most mayors?"
