Toseland Makes BBC Shortlist
BBC recognition, surely some mistake? Apparently not, good luck James Toseland. alf

It will be a tough one, there are three or four worthy winners in this line up. But if we ALL vote for J.T. who knows. smilie

Yes, I fear that bikers ARE rather persona non grata at the Beeb.

Their standard of sports coverage slips further all the time.
The jewel in the crown is the boat race!
Then we have athletics and horsey stuff.
I wish JT well and congratulate him for making the final list though

Ian, according to Wikipedia, Surtees won it in '59.

Interestingly, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill & Our 'Enry have won it twice.

But better that than the renewed interest by ITV in the barbaric "sport" of boxing..........and there are fans of that that criticise bull-fighting!
James Toseland did at least win the BBC North award - Yorkshire folk recognise success!

None of those in it this year, maybe a couple of losers or a suspected illegal substance taker !! C'mon you lot VOTE, just imagine if JT won. What an embarrassment for the beeb, i can picture it now, all the hastily found clips of the 1960 TT with out of sequence sounds of Nortons etc.

winner
Peter, boxing came first and third, sad comment on todays society innit.
Mind you it was afirst when father and son won ( my wife said she thought their name was Kawasaki !)

Mr Toseland was a fine ambassador for two-wheel sport and it was a pity he didn't get third !!

And my prayers were answered, it wasn't the rookie after all.

No mention of John McGuiness or the centenary TT.

Here's to next year when we might get a few winners for a change.

I was so pleased to see Sir Bobby Robson get his award.

What an ovation !!
