Splashdown's name comes from launching a factory RC30 through a hedge in practice for the 1988 Ulster Grand Prix, and landing 15 feet below in a very wet bog. The bike's imitation of a Barnes Wallis bouncing bomb looked expensive.........for Honda!

Without a shadow of doubt the best TT rider ever, fortunately I was racing most of his career and a long time after into the great Joey era, one of a kind.
