Bulletin 3 - Monday 29th May - pm.

The weather for this evening was fair - dry roads, clear visibility with just the chance of a shower. Again it was the smaller classes, plus Juniors who were given permission to practise out of class who led off the proceedings. Lightweight 400's 63 Anthony Shortland and 58 Sandra Barnett were first away followed by 7 Junior Michael Rutter and 89 Lightweight 400 Paul Dobbs. In the initial batch were Juniors 4 Adrian Archibald, 14 Shaun Harris, 13 Uel Duncan, 9 David Jefferies and 12 Jim Moodie along with Ian Lougher on his 125.

David Jefferies was first back with a lap in 19m. 01.0s. - 119.04mph - just 7.8 seconds outside the lap record - Adrian Archibald did 116.91, Jim Moodie 116.35, lain Duffus 115.64, Joey Dunlop 115.28 and Michael Rutter 115.27. Ian Simpson's 1997 lap record was unofficially beaten on the flying laps - and the first 120mph in the Junior was completed - Adrian Archibald lapped in 18m. 46.8s. -120.54mph - 6.4 seconds inside and David Jefferies recorded 18m. 47.1s. - 120.51mph. Joey Dunlop improved to 118.03, Jim Moodie to 117.45 and Iain Duffus to 117.38mph.

Two of the ladies lapped at over 100mph this evening - Kate Parkinson at 104.98 and Sandra Barnett at 100.16. Jason Griffiths came within 3.9 seconds of the 250cc lap record with a lap at 117.90mph. The bigger classes were next and Joey Dunlop was first off on his F1 Honda alongside Jim Moodie on his Production bike. David Jefferies and James Courtney were on their F1 machines and Jason Griffiths and Iain Duffus took out their Production bikes.

From a standing start David Jefferies was just 4.1 seconds outside the F1 lap record in 18m. 24.1 s. - 123.02mph. On his Production bike Adrian Archibald put in a lap at 118.07mph. On his flying lap David Jefferies was just 0.2 seconds outside Jim Moodie's absolute lap record in 18m. 11.6s. - 123.43mph.

Scrutineers report that 272 solos and 78 sidecars were checked this evening.

One incident reported this evening - 7 Junior Michael Rutter slid off at Govemors - O.K.
